How
Swiss Deal Radar works.
Not every advertised discount is genuinely good. Swiss Deal Radar therefore does not judge a deal by the discount claimed by the retailer, but by how low the current price is compared with prices actually observed.
1. We monitor real prices
Swiss Deal Radar records prices for selected products at participating Swiss retailers. Where known, shipping costs are included so offers can be compared using the amount actually paid.
2. We compare identical products
Products are matched wherever possible using identifiers such as EAN/GTIN or manufacturer part numbers. This helps avoid comparing similar but different models.
3. We build price history
A single observed price is not enough to call something a deal. Swiss Deal Radar first collects historical price data.
During this period a product may be marked as “Building price history”.
4. We calculate an observed market price
For the assessment, Swiss Deal Radar looks at stored prices from monitored retailers and builds an observed price history.
For example, we may use a median over a defined period. This is not an RRP and not a retailer-supplied “was” price.
5. Only significant differences become deals
Only when enough price history exists and the current price is significantly below the observed comparison value can an offer be classified as a deal.
Swiss Deal Radar therefore deliberately prefers a small number of convincing offers over a large number of ordinary promotions.
Affiliate links and independence
Swiss Deal Radar may in future receive a commission when a purchase is made through certain retailer links. This normally does not increase the price paid by the customer.
The amount of any affiliate commission does not influence the public deal rating.
Whether an offer qualifies as a deal is determined solely by observed price and offer data.
Important notice
Prices, availability and shipping costs can change at any time. Swiss Deal Radar shows the latest state observed by us. The current retailer price before purchase is always decisive.
